Speaking as a consumer, not a trained specialist, I can equivocally state that from my own experience and that of friends and family members who have drinking problems, you know you have a drinking problem when the alcohol controls you, despite your feeling that you can control your drinking. Think about it for a minute. The alcohol controls you. It makes a fool out of you. It causes problems in your relationships, your job or lack therof. You get in fights because of it, get arrested for drunk driving or you have an accident because of it. You might get abusive to your wife or in-laws, and you regret it in the morning. People think you’re a drunk, even though you insist they’re wrong. But they are right. And I come from a culture of Irish Catholics–so if yours friend regard you as a drunk….you are!They know one when they see one.

The best way to answer that question is ask yourself the question, “Do I control alcohol, or does it control me? If it’s the latter, then you have an alcohol problem and need to seek help.

I NEED TO FIND A 12 MONTH PROGRAM BUT I NEED TO FIND ONE THAT IS AFFORDABLE. I DON’T HAVE A LOT OF FINANCIAL NEEDS.
